Damage Criteria

We do our best to ensure every book arrives in great condition but due to the nature of production and shipping, occasional imperfections or damage can happen.

If yours arrives damaged, please reach out within 7 days of receiving it. If the damage meets our replacement criteria, we’ll either send a replacement or if we’re out of stock, do our best to make things right another way.

In some cases, we may ask you to return the damaged book before sending a replacement or issuing a refund.

You’ll need to send us photos so we can assess as replacements are offered at our discretion. Please review the damage criteria below before getting in touch.

The following does qualify as damaged ✅

  • Visible dents longer than 20 mm on the surface or edges of the book.
  • Crushed edges and/or corners more than 20 mm.
  • Spine split in half.
  • A tear, rip, cut or visible scratch on the front cover or spine larger than 15 mm.
  • Water damage.

The following does not qualify as damaged ❌

  • Light scratches, edge snags, minor tears or nicks 15 mm or less.
  • Normal shelf wear (e.g., light dulling or fading).
  • Small spots where foiling or colour is lightly faded.

  • Wavy pages from printing or storage (not caused by water).
  • Overspray typical of the sprayed edge process that doesn’t affect readability.
  • Crushed edges and/or corners less than 20 mm.
  • Slight printing variances that don’t affect readability.
  • Minor binding variances (e.g., visible glue) that don’t affect use or overall design
  • Damaged blank pages.

Please note: The above criteria are meant to offer guidance, but we understand every situation is unique, so we review each case individually with care and consideration.

Replacements are offered at our discretion, and while we do our best to reach a fair outcome for everyone, we may not always be able to provide the exact resolution requested.

Different materials and production processes can lead to natural variations that aren’t considered damage, for example, darker covers may show light marks more easily, and sprayed edges may have minor imperfections or shelf wear that’s typical of the process.

In some cases, we may ask you to alter a damaged book (such as marking or trimming the cover) and provide a photo before sending a replacement. This helps prevent damaged copies from being resold and keeps the process fair for all our customers.

If we notice any misuse of our replacement policy, such as repeated claims that don’t meet the damage criteria or claims made for resale purposes, we reserve the right to decline future requests or take further action to protect the integrity of the box.
